2024-2025 PROJECTS

Alleys Group Project

The Alleys Group engages with community members, business owners, and residents in Logan Heights living within a close vicinity of the alleyway on 30th and 31st Street. Through interviews conducted in English and Spanish and an ethnographic approach to understanding the usage of the alley, the group uncovered the lack of safety and security in the alley after sundown. To propose a solution to safety concerns expressed by community members, the team seeks to implement sustainable, feasible, and low-maintenance light sources in the alley for Logan Heights residents.

Policy Report
Group Project

The Policy Report Group Project utilizes the data gathered by survey groups from previous sections of this class to create a policy report on maintaining accessibility in Logan Heights. This report serves to address the lingering issues of street quality and cracked sidewalks along Imperial Avenue, one of the main streets in the Logan Heights neighborhood filled with small businesses and restaurants. The team aims to provide the Logan Heights CDC and the community with a resource that can be referenced for future requests for funding from the city of San Diego.

Arts Group Project

The Arts Group is dedicated to celebrating and preserving the vibrant history and culture of Logan Heights through community-driven initiatives. Aiming to implement impactful murals that reflect the neighborhood’s resilience and cultural heritage, we are in the process of developing a GoFundMe. Fundraising via GoFundMe will help provide donations to supply art materials such as scissor lifts, paints, and others needed to complete a mural located on 30th and Commercial St. Helping to draw attention to the importance of grassroots community initiatives, the campaign can serve as a model for other communities in San Diego or beyond, showing the power of collective action. By displaying and highlighting the rich narratives of Greater Logan Heights through collaborative art-making, our work sets the foundation for ongoing projects that uplift the voices and experiences of this unique community.
